WoYoPracMo - I have been away but still practicing!
After January (practiced everyday!) my practice slowed a little bit. I got sick (the whole month of February). Then came March - I don't remember March :-) and April, again no memory. Then May - went on a great vacation and continued my practice there! Yoga On The Shore - it was spectacular.
The practice has taken so many turns over the last few months. January was all about restoration for me so I did a lot of restorative yoga. Now I'm focus…

This has been an interesting month. From dealing with an illness to trying to find my way back to normal life. I still feel removed from what my life was before I went to Las Vegas and came back with the flu. It is getting better but not quite there yet. My asana practice stopped on February 1. It started up again for me (for real) this week. I taught on Thursday and that was good but it really wore me out. Last night I was feeling so tired, worn out, low energy and "my cup was not full". It was…

First of all - I did practice every day in the month of January - even in Las Vegas! Yippee. It was a wonderful experience and I had every intention of continuing it into February - then I got the flu. My first official sick day was February 1st. Today (Feb 18) is my first official day back to normal (almost). I have yet to do my practice today but I will!
I love that the theme for February is "Deepening Your Practice". I feel like I really did that in January but I'm sure I can take it even de…

I leaving for a little adventure tomorrow. There was a lot of "getting the ducks in a row" today. So much so that I am just now starting my practice - it is 11:11pm. As I type, I sit in sukhsana, sitting nice and tall on my sit bones and keeping my spine elongated. Previously, I had a wonderful extended baddha konasana on my mat. I do need my yoga as I do not want to allow this adventure to pull me from my center. Yoga will keep me firmly there. I will finish off with some forward folds and then…

Taught yoga today. I had only women - that has never happened with this class. It was wonderful to teach in the all female energy. We worked on arm balances - great fun!
Then I went to the US Nationals Ladies Short Program - so much fun!
Who did I see?
Kristy Yamaguchi, Scott Hamilton, Tannith Belbin, Jamie Sale, David Pelletier, Dick Button, Tai Babilonia, Randy Gardner, Todd Eldridge, Nancy Kerrigan

I've felt odd sometimes too, having the opposite flexibility issues of most, but I've also had really good luck with understanding teachers. One of them managed to explain it in such a way that management just sort of fell together in my head - "Muscle containment and boundaries". I use the physical practice of yoga to build muscle strength, which acts to hold my joints in place, like an internal brace. Really consciously engaging the muscles used in whatever asana is super important for us, and boundaries are huge, but much harder to verbalize - going into poses with a very present mind, constantly checking in with ones own sense of safety - sometimes it can get frustrating - I still can't do a full kapotasana, because my joints 'panic', if that makes any sense! The big thing I find helping me, that I just learned over this past month has been a sort of full-body engagement, my entire muscle system alive and active - it seems to help keep things from slipping out of place.
It's so mice to find someone with a similar issue to talk to!
