Well, June is underway, and so is Yogadiva's June
Summer Sun Salutation and Meditation Challenge. I am really enjoying it so far. Yesterday was June 6th, so I did six Sun Salutations on the front end of my practice, and three minutes of meditation at the end. Later this evening, it'll be seven Sun Sals. And 30 SS / 15 minutes meditation by the end of the month? Sweet.
In the spirit of full disclosure, I missed practicing the second or third day. But now the pressure is off, and I can just go with the flow! Plus, I (re)learned something valuable, which is if I sit up too late (i.e. after my adult supervision goes to bed) and I snack too much at said late hour, then it is not likely that I will make it to the mat the next morning. I have previously discovered this fact about a bazillion times, but apparently, you can get amnesia from a rerun of Mythbusters and a bag of Cheetos.
One of the biggest challenges for me as the month goes on will be to carve out progressively longer periods of time to practice. I am pretty sure it'll go beyond my customary 30 minute morning session. Will Chris fulfill his intention to practice daily? Or will the Evil Snooze Alarm win? Stay tuned ...
