Day 28 - Blazing Saddles Yoga (or - what in the Sam Hill is goin' on around here?)

Weeellll... I was a major slug today and did not do my ashtanga routine. However, at 11:30PM (PM!!!) I slimed my way into the living room and did my 20 min "vitality & rejuvenation" routine. It feels restorative to me and starts with "The Spinal Roll or Rocking Exercise." We sometimes do this roll in class and then stand up after rolling around a bit. It seems to wake up and loosen up my back and I like it. Nice way to get started. You grab your feet and then roll back into plow and then forward into sitting and repeat 6x+ times.

My DH is FINALLY home after a surprise 78 hr shift. Woo hoo! THAT was fun. So HE picked up the girls from school and I did some retail therapy at the local thrift town (picked up a SWEET 6" Griswold cast iron skillet for $2 and an nice salwar kameez that maybe I'll have the guts to wear someday for $7). Yes, I'm letting my freak flag fly.

Right.. DH - so we chatted as I started my practice. One of his favorite things to do is make sound effects when I'm getting into a yoga posture. Imagine eating a big bowl of beans and then doing yoga. That's what it sounds like. Tonight it cracked me up and I kept falling out of postures and rolling around giggling like an 11-yr-old boy.

Don't you love husbands and their sophisticated senses of humor ;-)

I love today's foot photo, BTW.

Steven, oh yuck. hikejmt, oh dear, fart jokes as comic relief, that must have been a very long 72 hour shift...

I had to look up "salwar kameez" - doesn't seem like it would take a lot of guts to wear it, unless maybe it looked like this instead of like this... I don't need anyone to make sound effects for me when I'm rocking and rolling. My towel is so soaked by that time in the practice that some embarassing noises emit from the wet towel over the mat when I splat down on it while rolling!

"rolling around giggling like an 11-year old boy"?????? i love the sound of the spinal rock 'n roll - my twisted spin would be making the sound effect noises.
