What a suckfest of a month! I think I practiced some 3-4 times (so it seemed) after almost a full month of practice in January. I've decided I need to simply commit to a specific schedule or the abaniles re-doing the floor in my "yoga" room or the abaniles making cabinets in the kitchen or the sick kids or the schooling I'm supposed to be studying or the contacts that aren't working will give me excuse after excuse. So March (and pretty much each and every month after that) will be a daily Sun S…

February has been a real challenge for me in Yoga. We all got some sickness and with six in the family, it takes forever to run through us. I think I probably practiced once a week this month. Yesterday, even after making an exercise walk, I really felt a need for a practice and had a very deep practice. Well, deep physically. So far, Yoga hasn't made it to my mental plane. We passed an amazing eclipse here on the Caribbean but as it gets hotter (it is generally in the mid 80'sF with 70%+ humidi…

I haven't been out of the trailer for two entire days. Irregardless that the trailer is parked at the Caribbean, it still sucketh green donkey balls. Ellen has been lain low with a stomach virus which is making it's rounds and she simply will not allow me out of her sight. I really needed a practice today so I went back in time to when I used to kick the family out of the RV so I could practice and practiced in the living/kitchen room. I got as far as 1/2 way through Janu B before I had to stop…

Well, I definitely did not practice every day, especailly after the 20th or so, and just took the 28th, 29th and 30th off to attend Carnaval across the channel on Cozumel. It was a lovely Carnaval and while I actually missed Yoga and was a little antsy during the days, there was no way I was going to be able to practice. I am finding that am continue to deepen my poses and something happened yesterday but I can't remember what it was. Oh well. I had hopes for a full practice today, but a sick 6y…

I've not practices asanas the past couple days due to Ladies Holiday but have been stretching throughout the day and mindful each night before going to sleep. Yesterday I had a dentist appointment and practiced meditation and breathing the entire time. Well, that and some Soduku. It ended up being a two hour appointment. Today either full practice or exercise walk and 5A's and 5B's.

Sucky sucketh suckfest pucky puckfest. Ugh.
I could not only not get my groove, but I lost my stamina, heart and desire along with the lost groove. I made it to Navasana this morning but then forced myself through each side, each vinaysa, each stretch, each moment. I finally quit after backbends; I just couldn't get myself through it. It has been raining like it should NOT be in Winter. Winter is dry season here and it has been drizzling and raining hard for 3.5 solid hours! At 70 freaking degr…

I haven't had much to add lately; practice is what it is; nothing new to report but then I remembered that yesterday, I got my head off the ground in backbends! The last time I had a committed practice I was regularly able to do this, but it has been more than a year since I had a regular practice and it was such a surprise to find my head Off The Ground yesterday.
Other than that, getting deeper into poses (nowhere near as deep as my sister), no pictures, still doing 5A's, 5B's after e…

Practice is...well, practice. I'm getting a little deeper into poses and have finally figured out what to do after exercise walks. I had tried doing standing, 5A's and 5B's, a conglomeration of what I could find on the internet of restorative poses and have come to the conclusion that 5A's and 5B's are what works for me. I missed a couple days of practice and I could lie and say, "oh yeah, those were the days I tried Yoga without asana" but honestly, it isn't Yoga if it isn't asana. I know that…

Oh, I had to force myself through practice today. This is the problem with practicing alone; I've even cut off David (Swenson). :) I was up incredibly early today; practically DAWN (the boys, 11 and 13, have just emerged from the trailer, woken early by my use of the microwave, at (drumroll....) Ten Forty Five) at 8am. The entire family was asleep and I had hopes that Ellen, the 6yo would continue sleeping. Many times she senses the lack of my warm body in bed and awakens.
I couldn't se…

I've been working on painting all the concrete here in the palapa and I'm not sure I will ever finish. Today I hoped to get the tops of some walls that, without a ladder, were impossible earlier. As I stretched, twisted, listened to the pratter of Maya from the palaperos working next door and reached, then bent over, Pada Hastasana-style, to grip the stool I was using to reach the upper portions and climb down. It was quiet for midday and it was meditative work. I almost felt, after finishing ou…

I can't believe how bendy my sister is! She is so deep into each asana she takes a photo of. today was the first day I really was not into practice. I wasn't looking forward to it; I even considered just my standard Sun Salutations (5A's, 5B's). My back is in a constant state of hurt but it is simple muscle soreness. Yesterday, for the first time in forever, Jamie was able to crack about 4 cracks in my back. It was SUCH an amazing feeling; I've been craving an adjustment for over 3 years and I k…

I finally figured out that Yoga is much easier after an exercise walk when I don't start with 5A's and 5B's. Yesterday we went for a walk, (it is finally getting warm enough that I can consider a dip in the sea after sweating it up) and afterwards I did the standing poses in the room overlooking the jungle. I had high hopes of practicing early today but didn't go to bed until 6am, totally mesmorized by
Bumfuzzle. I had many errands this morning; get coffee…

Last night before going to sleep I organized things so I'd have a chance to practice first thing in the morning. I had hopes for a full (through Navasana) practice but was open to whatever happened. I woke first at what seemed like before dawn and couldn't even consider getting up. The second time I woke the entire trailer was deep asleep and I figured it must be around 7am. It was the buttcrack of NINE FORTY FIVE. I honestly couldn't believe it was that late, everyone was still deeply sleeping…

So, I've been requested to take a photo of the new Yoga room (the upstairs of the recamera and baño) which had been promised to the girls as their room but has been abandoned in favor of the recamera. I was so happy with yesterday's practice and so NOT sore (!!!) that this morning I had hopes for another full (…

I figured out something important today; it is much easier to practice when you're not already tired from a hour exercise walk. Who woudda thunk? I tried to get up at the buttcrack of 9am (yeah, we sleep in late here) after reading the numerous WoYoPracMo blog posts of setting alarms for ridiculous hours, but was thwarted by a certain 6yo who I thought SURE would have slept til 10am or later considering she'd gone to bed after midnight. (everyone cheers that the sentence finally ended)

I don't know if I should admit this or not, but after a busy day I finally figured out how to squeeze in a little Yoga and please the other half at the same time. We opened the recamera up to the backyard, twilight hovered over the jungle, christmas lights twinkled in the coconut tree, a hush settled over the jungle as the palaperos headed home and I stripped down to lace thong and tank top for my practice. The Other Half was VERY happy and it was lovely to feel my body moving through the Sun Sa…

We had a norte roll in yesterday and today it is so cold we're all huddling inside. It is such a luxury to have the option of inside space as much of the Yucatan is full of living spaces outside. As it is, our kitchen, diningroom and livingroom are all outside. We took our exercise walk before practice; I really didn't want to limit practice to simply Sun Salutations so I waited until after our walk. It is quite cold today but we still managed to get our heart rates up for 50 minutes. Unfortunat…

My keyboard that I JUST bought in the US just coughed up something large and I now have a space bar again! If I were not doing WoYoPracMo I never would have done anything today and I'm so glad I joined. Just focusing on making time for Sun Salutations daily is extraordinary. I've always thought I needed to get at least through my poses in First to have a practice, but I'm finding pleasure in the simplicity of Sun Salutations only. I managed to squeeze in a practice (the bare minimum of 5A's and…

Not first series but first practice of the year. I restarted my practice a week or so ago and wobbled through my second practice with shaky arms and deflated spirit. Today, after quite a few days rest (ladies holiday and moon day) I started strong and powerful. By the 4th Suri B however, I was shaky and glad to stop after my last Sun Salutation. I got a good, powerful, sweaty (83F and 70% humidity here in the cool of winter) 15 minutes in. I think this will be an excellent motivating force to ge…
