thank you so much inquiring about the work. I've been working with Nabuur for the last six months or so. We've set up the beginnings of five projects: 1. a Village Phone Salon women's micro-financing business co-ops (just got the website up yesterday, www.vpsnabuur.weebly.com), a clean water project, a nutrition and school garden project, digital technology for classroom group, and an HIV/AIDS youth vision program is in the making. If you have any interest to know what we are doing, please just drop an email to me virtualredtent (at) yahoo (dot) com. It's not often people ask. As you noticed, more are interested in the noodles (smile).

Thanks for visiting my page. I am about to go look at your blog, because it sounds fascinating. I'm still not able to do yoga as frequently as I did before my had my daughter, but I appreciate every minute I can get. Same with meditation. Right now I have signed up to do Vajrasattva mantra's for Peace and that seems to help me stay motivated to do as much meditation as possible. Just connecting in with others who have a similar practice works wonders!

Hi thanks! it's great to be here it's a great motivator to do more. 2 young ones, (Ruby 3 and Maple 5 months) keep me VERY busy. Also since I'm still feeding one, it's really difficult to do more than one of my classes a week. A huge change from doing 3-5. but better than nothing. Not sure how often I'll be able to contribute to the site but it's nice to be so welcomed by so many like minded yogi's!
Love and light to you.

About Me:
I was born into a yoga ashram, but was not really drawn to the practice until adulthood. My parents practiced Integral Hatha Yoga, which I found very static. But when I discovered Vinyasa, it was love at first surya namaskar.

I work in international public health, which I feel extremely passionate about. My current project is supporting HIV/AIDS treatment clinics in Nigeria (but I'm based in the US.)

I'm also a mom of two wonderful children ages 6 and 8; a dancer; a vegan; and a Buddhist.

January 29-31: Done!!

I did it! Thirty one days of yoga and meditation!!
I must admit that as happy as I am for this accomplishment, I am also relieved it's over, and looking forward to a break.
I still plan on meditating everyday. But for the yoga, I'd like to bring it down to 3 or 4 times a week. It is going to feel so good tomorrow when that little voice in my head says "I don't want to do it" to be able to say Ha! I don't have to and I'm not going to!

January 20th - 28th: Vacation week

I just spent a week in California!

Overall I'll say it was really challenging, I spent the whole week in a hotel room with my two kids. I brought my yoga mat, and did manage to do something everyday, between 10 and 30 minutes. Usually with the kids watching tv. Sometimes my son would climb all over me, but instead of getting upset and sending him away, I'd just make it into a game and flip him upside-down as I went into downward dog. There were a few times when I was able to really tune out the… Continue

January 19th - Karma Yoga

Today was a day of service. I was really excited to answer the Obama's call to service on Martin Luther King day. The kids and I spent the day with a group of strangers sewing quilts for the homeless. I wasn't sure how much the kids the would participate and brought lots of toys for them as a back-up. But I ended up sitting back and watching them plan the whole thing. They picked a fabric with a barnyard scene, cows, grass etc, as the background. They picked a dark red for the words, they drew a… Continue

January 18th

Today was our mindfulness group with kids, 8 kids showed up which was pretty good considering we had a minor blizzard today, the roads were pretty bad. Usually we get more than 20. Anyway, it was fun.

After I dropped my kids off with their dad I went right back to meditation center and sat for 40 minutes. Unfortunately I still found myself lost in the thoughts about the group, this time instead of planning, I was caught up in thinking about how things had gone, replaying the scenes in my head,… Continue

January 13th - 17th - Still going strong

More than half way there, and still practicing everyday! That alone is enough to make me celebrate.
I've found a little more acceptance for my 10 minute weeknight practice sessions, I had been hoping for more, and still am hoping to do more, but if that's what happens, then so be it.
Jan 13th- clearly I haven't figured out how to use my iPod yet... I use it as a timer for my meditation and yoga, choose how many minutes I'll do, then at the end the bell chimes, usually it works perfectly.… Continue
