" I'm the original comfort, celebration, relaxation, consolation and stress eater." Sounds like yoga has replaced food as a source of comfort, celebration, etc. and food simply retains its purpose as nourishment. This might seem like not getting e...

Yes, Facebook will be excellent networking for your studio. It can also be a huge time waster if you're not careful! What's your name on Facebook?

I learned about that back when I lived in Portland. I'm glad it's still going strong!

Hey Steven, don't despair. My Skeeter (the white kitty in my photos) lived to 19.5 years, the last several with kidney disease. I did everything I could to make her as comfortable and happy as possible, which I'm sure you will do for yours too. Th...

I'm having 108 envy! Ok, in a good way. I was admiring your pics - they're great!

Hey Steven, glad to hear you've recovered so weel from your injuries that you could do the 108! I went back to CP St. Paul today, post 108 at YCMpls yesterday, figuring the heat would be a good way to loosen up that place between my shoulder blades. It was good to be back! (first time in the expanded stuido, verrrrry nice.)

you guessed right, corepower it is! thanks for your comments-i have used each of those techniques and sometimes they feel great and sometimes they don't work, which is true for everything, i guess. i haven't done either of them for awhile, so maybe i'll throw an om in one of these days and ask permission to adjust at the beginning of class.

i hear CPY has a really great thing going in MN! i'm an iowa girl, myself so it's nice to hear yoga exists in those parts--it hasn't quite caught on where i'm from--yet. my family thinks i'm a little bit crazy.

thanks again and thanks for sharing your journey...your snippits are great reads :)

Thanks for the comment about crow. You are so right revelations making things easier. I had the same kind of experience with chataranga, the harder I tried the more impossible it seemed as I was trying to do it on strength alone. Then when I shifted my concentration and engaged the bandhas, widened my back and focused on my breathe, I could finally do it.
I think with crow it is fear that is holding me back...always think I am going to fall flat on my face. So, I guess I just have to let go of fear.
Your crow photo is beautiful!!

Hi Steven,
I just stumbled on your page late in the month. I've enjoyed reading your blog posts. Your avatar looks great. The pose is very powerful and Lilalia does amazing collages.
Namaste, SeaStar.

Steven,

What a cool photo. did Lilalia do it for you?

Dear Steven,

I'd love to give it a try. I am still heading for two more collages for the woyopracmo series. Please send the photo 300 dpi postcard or slightly larger in size. Email address, virtualredtent at yahoo.com.

Maybe you can give me an indication of certain preferred aspects: colour, tone, element (e.g. sand, ice, water, wood, stone), urban, nature, you might like with the photo. Since the crow is pretty complex, it would have to be simple.

I might do something with a bicycle part in it as well. We'll see.

Glad you sent the suggestion.

bye, lia

P.S. I'm sending this as comment and as a message, since I've had some difficulties understanding the whole message thing.

Yes, Steven, my husband was awesome. I couldn't have gone through that without him. And my mentor is a really stand up guy. We had a horrible misunderstanding and we really had to work it out, but he has a big heart.

Days 29 - 31: Sad yoga

Found out on Friday that my feline companion of 14 years has kidney failure. I will miss him greatly, but catching it early should give me a little more time with him. Made it a challenge to be present in class. Thurs. was an energetic, athletic class, Friday was mellow candlelight yoga and Saturday was a challenging, very hot and humid class.

Days, uh, 25-28: Galavasana, non-attachment

About this time last year I was making big advances in my asana practice. I thought this year would merely be recovery back to where I was last year after my injury, but I'm actually making little breakthroughs this year too! WoYoPracMo really does turbo-charge the yoga practice if you stick with it!

Last weekend I was able to get into Galavasana for the first time ever. I was pretty pleased with m… Continue

Days 21-24: Busy week!

A warm front blew into the Twin Cities earlier in the week. And by "warm front" I mean temperatures above zero. They even flirted with the freezing point, but the freezing point blew them off. So Wed. and Thurs. I biked to work with a friend who has a similar route, and biked to yoga afterward. Totally changed the practice from an energetic power yoga practice to struggling and making some serious modifications! Focus was off too. Thurs. I didn't even have the energy to bike to yoga, so I biked… Continue

Day 20: Playful, strong practice on an historic day

I felt super strong and flexible today, and for the first time since breaking the collarbone, was able to float from Down Dog to Crane pose! I think everyone was in a good mood today because of the inauguration and everything it symbolizes, because class was very playful. To wit: the teacher had us "move the upholstery away from our sit bones" in seated forward fold (which I seemed to find funnier than others), and various other giggle-inducing moments that I can't remember. I always like those… Continue

Days 17, 18 and 19: Catching up, powerful heart opener

I could say I've been too busy to post, but actually I've been too lazy. Studio practices each day: Saturday I took advantage of the relatively warm 20 degree weather to bike to the studio, and explore the new bike bridge and bike center here on Minneapolis' Greenway.

Sunday was probably the highlight of the weekend yoga-wise. A very challenging 75 minute practice. However, it was challenging in the way yoga is meant to be challenging: forcing us to focus and be present and to draw strength fro… Continue
