My eKo lite fell apart on me within 6 months - I'm also a regular Ashtangi and I think those jumpbacks/ jumpthroughs don't really agree with the mat. Go with the Pro black mat. I've been using the black mat with an eQua towel over it when it comes...

Your hips will surprise you I'm sure. I did battle with Mari-D for a while. Like everything, it just takes time. And! Your post title reminds me of a song... Yoga Sandwich, by Christopher Kavi Carbone. You should check it out. Super cute.

Obviously - an Ashtanga practice is aggravating the hives/eczema that have covered my arms, legs and face. Too much heat generated. I was more than a little pissed off at my body, at all of what's going on. Between D and Spirited C I have a bunch of rec… Continue

2009.02.02 - 2009.02.08

Is there a reason that February seems to be flying too? Ok. So it has only been a full week.

Finally off the prednisone and now I just have to deal with the resulting emotional fallout. :P

Good week of practice, made it to the Shala Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday mornings, took Thursday morning off due to my Iyengar class in the evening. We're still working on Trikonasana. Damn that pose is going to kill me - but gosh darn it, I love it when everything is in it's right place. And we spe… Continue

Oh. And note for future reference:

and

Ashtanga fortune cookie of day:

Stinky cheese at finishing course to dinner night before makes for smelly yogini next morning.

My day feels empty with out commenting on practice.

Back to the Shala again. D commented about my absence from the Shala this past week. Normally if I miss a block of time at the D is diligent about stopping me, usually around Navasana. However, keeping up with self practices kept me limber and strong today. Practice was solid, a little tired towards the end, but standing and drop backs felt great. Very little heels up action and got some great extension through the upper chest and back.

2009.01.31: Practice 31

Wow.

One month. Thirty-one practices.

Besides contending with the weather this past and final week, I've been dealing with an allergic reaction to one of my medications. In the past I might have used it as an excuse to not practice. This time I used it as something to help guide my practice - to work within it. From that I learned that there is an intuitive intelligence to practicing on your own. Working with handstand earlier this week I forgot about the hives, was pleasantly surprised and ga… Continue
