Opening set for March 7, in quaint downtown White Bear Lake, about 14 miles north of St. Paul.

Hey Patrick, I am basically avoiding some financial/tax work right now so I thought I'd give you a shout, specifically to let you know I managed that funky bound-half padma-halasana rollout to a twist! I held on to the Precious, and I am sure it wasn't pretty but it was ... THERE.

Also, on a crazy note, I am opening a yoga studio. I'm calling it DRISHTI YOGA: Find your Focus. Hoping to open in March. Sometime.

That explains the financial/tax work, which I've never before connected with yoga. I'm learning.

Hope you and your partner have recovered from car crash and back pain.

The Moon sequence sounds appealing to me!

I may have to get that book!

Hey, no problem, it's hard to keep up with all your adoring fans! ha, joke. (i refuse to use the emoticons.) Plus, I did manage to blow you off when you were here. Sorry.

Holy crap! I think I get it ... I'll run that through my brain a few more times and see it, then maybe give it a shot. I love that crazy stuff.

And hey, MS back in Mpls this summer. I do check the YogaHouse site often even though I don't get over there. Maybe this year I will be brave enough for MS.

Ack! So sorry, things got out of hand -- I always think I can get more done before a trip than is realistic. By the time you get this you will have made it through your adventure; I hope it brought you where you wanted to go.

Yeah, I figured I'd truck over there around noon. I don't know that area of town very well myself but I did manage to find it tonight pretty easily (thank god for mapquest), and I made it for the Moon practice. Wow. Schweet! I don't know why I was hemming and hawing about it earlier. Probably performance anxiety, as MS himself said tonight.

Lauri--enjoy Columbus and YOH! I've not been (although it's 3 hours from here by car) but it's still on the list, when I can afford a weekend road trip.

DurhamaSTangi--you get TWO weeks of Matthew? Wow! I'm headed to Minneapolis on Saturday to get one week of Matthew :)

Hello there, Patrick. NC - yes. There are some devoted astangis here. A nice place to be. We'd love to have an authorized teacher here, full time, but have a good workshop and visiting teacher program. Matthew Sweeney will be here for 2 weeks the end of July.

I'm really enjoying reading about others practitioners' experiences!

Also, I'm thinking about trying to sneak out of work a bit early on Friday to go to the Moon Series class that night. And while I'm in Columbus, I'm going to try to get to Yoga on High for my first official Ashtanga class. (I figure better to start far from home where no one will recognize me! haha)

I have fallen off the asana train! About to climb back on.

It could be the car accident (a lady rushed a red and crashed into the passenger side of my Saturn), the partner's few weeks of back pain, the start of the semester, or something else, but I have officially fallen off the asana practice train. Oh well, this happens. I'll have more updates or details or something, soon. Cheers!

More catch-up: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday.

Sunday I was all cranky in the hip flexors and the sinuses, so did 6 sun salutations and that was enough; then I just broke into whatever poses I wanted, that pulled the flexors open. LOTS of seated twists, halfmoon with the top leg in a bow pose position, a few backbends (bow, camelish positions). A lot of freeformish play.

Monday, I led a Primary series at night, and before that, went to a vinyasa class heavily influenced by Anusara yoga. Lots of scissoring the thighs together; standing flows… Continue

Catch-up: Wed, Thurs, Fri and today.

Backwards in time first: this morning, I put in the 8 am vinyasa class, which again was marvelous. Warriors, halfmoons, bow pose, backbends, twists, and a long shoulderstandish closingish series. Mmmmmm mmmmm good.

Friday: some general rolling around on the floor, very informal practice. Lots of twists and hip openers, lots of moves taken from Matthew Sweeney's sequences, but informal. If the WYPM rules are "ten minutes of anything," this counts.

Thursday: practice only in the form of demo-ing… Continue

January 6: practice achieved!

Tuesday night vinyasa class, ahhhh. Tons of standing flows, halfmoons, triangles, side angles revolved and not, and then the arm balance show--side cranes and scissors, bakasana, eka pada galavasana, tripod headstands, and hip openers--baddha konasana, agnistambhasana (double pigeon). lots of poses i used to hate, that now i don't, so much. brilliant class.

January 5: practice achieved!

It's so much easier when there's a class rather than home practice. Intro to Intermediate tonight, which was more like 2/3 of Intermediate. For those of you who've never met the Intermediate (2nd) sequence of Ashtanga yoga: it's a giant twist, a huge forward bend, seven (!!) backbends, two twists, three foot-behind-head moves, a forward-bendy arm balance sequence, two inversions, and then three various sun-salutation power moves, followed finally by a big side bend, a lovely hip opener, and the… Continue
