As July nears ending I wanted to report that, although I've not practiced every day this month in accordance with the plan, I've practiced nearly every day as a result of the commitment I made here. I feel so much better on days when I do yoga. Everything flows in peace. I'm going to keep my little stickie that says "yoga" up on my bathroom mirror as a reminder of this month of returning to a regular practice. But I think I need more incentive so I'll continue posting progress reports here.

Namaste' everyone,
Lydia

Today it is so hot, already 95 and not the peak of the temp. But I did yoga and wasn't too wiped out because the AC came on while I was in short meditation. Tonight is the first of three "Fiddlin' Classes in the Park." I'm a total neophyte, having taken the workshop last August and purchasing my violin soon afterward - but I haven't done anything with it and have forgotten everything. One of the workshop teachers is going to give me lessons; they kept backing into the future because her mother was quite ill. So I know this workshop is an important way to recharge my nerves. Still, I believe I will wait until next week - just can't imagine sitting in the park for 1-1/2 hours beginning at 5:00P today in this heat. I might change my mind, but ...

July 1st and I did join the group in an at-home session. Since I haven't been doing yoga I want to be smart and not overdo so I got out my AM Yoga with Rodney Yee tape and followed his instructions. My body wanted to go deeper but I just stuck with the 20 minute tape.

Help!

I really need a kick in my yoga butt! What's wrong with me? I just haven't been practicing at all. My sleep pattern has been all askew and I've been getting up too late to feel I can devote time to a practice session. It's ridiculous. I need to know if anyone else in the group has/is experiencing the same problem and am open to suggestions on how to get over this hurdle.
Many thanks and namaste.

Weekend stuff

I've been faithful in my practice. Still keeping it simple. I'm finding the meditation is extremely meaningful to me; I need to go deeper. But there's so much chaos in my life, so many "to-do's" that keep me from knowing my inner being, how I've changed, what's really making me tick these days. I guess that being aware that I'm on the surface of things is a start in the right direction. Am I close to a breakthrough? I sense something bubbling, like there is newness ready to crash through the she… Continue

Yoga at 95 degrees (and it's not even Bikram practice!)

I cut and pasted this from comments into my blog, as I'm still somewhat confused how the posts work here!

Catching up on July

July 7 I had two comments from others that were so nice to receive. When I visited their pages I noticed that they each were using their blogs to full advantage. I don't know if I'll post daily, but in the meantime I've missed only one day since July began - and that was to go to the beach, where I considered walking meditation as partially counting. Each day I've practiced with the Rodney Yee tape and I feel improvements. Gotta consider getting back to a formal weekly yoga class (although Teri'… Continue

July practice

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to say how much the commitment to the group to practice in July has helped me. I know that the month is young, but I've only missed one day. That was Sunday, and my husband woke me up to ask me if I'd like to take the dogs to the Oregon coast for the day. I jumped at the chance and considered walking the beach to be my practice that day. It was cheating a bit, but I was right back on the mat this morning. I continue to practice gently with a Rodney Yee tape because I am so… Continue
