It sounds like your foray into Yoga is treating you well, Kathleen!! I love it that you roll out your mat in the RV. My husband, our two year old and myself did a two week trip in an RV in Colorado and it was such a blast! I would never have thought to bring the mat... :)

Kathleen - thank you for your note!
My work day sounds much easier than you day of driving - fog, rain and mountain passes does not sound enjoyable. I have learned that sometimes it's better just to let your body rest after a day like that, otherwise you might risk getting injured (at least for me personally - just because I can't concentrate when physically exhausted). And the way I look at it, tomorrow is another day. So have a good night.

Hope you have been able to try that DVD. Fair warning - Pretty soon you might find yourself starting a yoga group at the RV park.

Does having two daughters doing yoga make your daily practice inspired or is it rather daunting? I hope you are doing well with the DVD.

Welcome Kathleen!! Lilian Folas DVD's might be a great place to start...

What an inspiration you are! Biking across the states! I am excited to hear where your journey into Yoga takes you!

I just purchased a neat CD on Yoga for Beginners. The book Dad has is okay, but the video shows more of the poses - more than just one picture. Maybe I'll be able to do Yoga with the CD - don't much want to drive into town for it. No Yoga classes here or at the other RV park close by. ("I can do it myself".....) I will check out the book you suggested, Chris.

hey! I see Dad escaping back through the Foretravel there! Is he going to join too? I think a DVD would be a great idea, but I bet that there are Yoga classes also down there. Doesn't Dad have a yoga in bed book that he was using?

A Place to Workout

This morning I attended an exercise class here at the RV park. It consisted mainly in "walking" and provided a chance to get the heart rate up.

The most important thing, though, is that I asked if I might use the TV/DVD set-up in order to pracice my yoga exercises in a place where there is more room than what we have here in our motor home. I found out how to operate the machine (and various hand held "clickers"), but was not able to get the d... thing up and running. Tomorrow I will take my disk and a notebook and pen and get detailed directions.

I did as much as I was able to do from our little yoga book and from what I have been able to pull off the internet. My! There is a host of illustrations of the various asanas on the web. (I've used up all my printer toner and will pick up more toner tomorrow so I can continue making my own "Yoga" book!)

April Update

It's been a long silence from this writer, but I have not been idle.
Paul (husband) was diagnosed with bladder cancer & went into chemo treatments once-a-week for 6 weeks. He did really well with them, and now we have 4-6 weeks "off". He'll have another biopsy around the first part of May.
Right now we are in a camp ground called Agua Caliente (near the largest California State Park - Anza Borrego). We are full-timers --- that means we live and travel in our motor home. We are on our way up… Continue

Not Really Gone

Although I have been silent since this month began, I have continued my learning experience with Yoga. Several more books on Yoga have been added to my growing library, and I am reading them, too!

Paul had minor surgery on 1/31 and my trusty Yoga books came in handy as I waited for him to get out of the surgery and recovery room.

In all honesty, I must confess that I did not work out every day. We live about 100 miles from the hospital, so we stayed in a motel for 4 nights. D… Continue

Catch-up

I haven't been posting the past few days, but WoYoPracMo has often been in my thoughts - remembering tips and encourangement that have been given over this month.
My weekly class on Thursday was especially good. Our teacher is a down-to-earth gal who is really helping us (me in particular) breath more correctly. Each time we have class she brings something new to the table. I enjoy not having a set routine, especially when I am just learning about Yoga and all its ramifications. Balance cont… Continue

Do all you Yoga people out there have a Yoga library?

"Yoga Over 50" b Mary Stewart
"The Woman's Book of Yoga & Health" by Linda Sparrowe

Yoga on the Web

Thanks to Gypsy Girl, I have been at this computer for several hours this afternoon! Thanks to her suggestions, I have found "scads" of yoga instructions. Some I have printed off for myself (now that I am getting a little familar with the poses).
I'll put them to good use (even Paul is working harder at getting more limber so he can attend class with me, too!) I told him he could probably attend anyway, but this is the way he wants to do it, and I am just glad to see him do his Yoga every m… Continue
