I've felt odd sometimes too, having the opposite flexibility issues of most, but I've also had really good luck with understanding teachers. One of them managed to explain it in such a way that management just sort of fell together in my head - "Muscle containment and boundaries". I use the physical practice of yoga to build muscle strength, which acts to hold my joints in place, like an internal brace. Really consciously engaging the muscles used in whatever asana is super important for us, and boundaries are huge, but much harder to verbalize - going into poses with a very present mind, constantly checking in with ones own sense of safety - sometimes it can get frustrating - I still can't do a full kapotasana, because my joints 'panic', if that makes any sense! The big thing I find helping me, that I just learned over this past month has been a sort of full-body engagement, my entire muscle system alive and active - it seems to help keep things from slipping out of place.

It's so mice to find someone with a similar issue to talk to!

February 18 - REALLY? - And Costa Rica In Between

OK - so I was doing great - really well this January. My last post was January 16. I'm not sure what happened between the 16th and the 23th but I do remember well what happened from January 24 - 31 - I was in Costa Rica doing yoga 3 times a day in the jungle. It was spectacular - and so rejuvenating.

January 15 - Day 15 Teaching

Today I taught a yoga class. Starting off with sitting for 5 minutes. Being quiet. Focusing on the different things going on in the body as one sits. Then lots of standing poses. A few balance poses thrown in and also a vasisthasana prep. Before I knew it - time for savasana. They love savasana!

I fell off the Yoga Asana Wagon - I'm back on today!

Where did the last 6 days go? Wow - that was fast. Well, as you can see from the title of this post - I did fall off the asana wagon. That is the ASANA wagon, not the meditation wagon. I have meditated every day since my last post - does that count?

Jan 7 & 8 - Day 7 & 8

Yesterday started out without a meditation! Oh, did I feel that throughout the day! I ended my day with some foot yoga. Toe stretches and a nice massage. It was great.

Today I did not start out with meditation either - ah, what is going on? I am going to do that when I finish this :-)

I did teach a yoga class today. We worked on....you guessed it, TWISTS! It was a slow and gentle class. Felt great for me and I could tell while they were in savasana that is was great for them too.

Jan 6 - Day 6 - Twist and Release!

And again --- I twisted tonight adding some forward folds in between. Felt so good.

I assisted at a workshop YogaLaura lead on New Year's Day. One section was about twisting to help you release whatever you maybe holding on to that doesn't serve you anymore.
