I took my first Anusara class this week. I found myself feeling like a beginner all over and surrendered to not knowing what would be next. It was fun and challenging. I miss having vinyasas but enjoyed the attention to details. I think it will co...

That's not so far off the mark. I've been searching on the internet for some place in this area that offer Yoga classes. Several places that offer exercises, and weight loss classes, but no Yoga. I've been watching the Elemen Yoga for Beginners and have printed out a number of poses that I think might be in my range. I've been trying to do the sun salutes, lotus, bridge, and there are a few others I found in my husband's "Yoga in Bed" that have different names, but look like other Yoga poses.
I have ordered another Yoga book (recommended by one of my daughters. I'm still looking for another DV - so I ought to be a "convert" by month's end!
Thanks for the encouragement!

Jen, welcome! 108 days -- wow! I'll bet you can find a few people to join you in that challenge here!

I generally have a goal to practice yoga 4-5 days a week. However I have been thinking that it would be a great challenge to make sure to get a practice in for 108 straight days. This group committment for January will definitely help!

01.31 = 60 mins class

So today is a milestone in WoYoPracMo. Congratulations to all our participants and to any readers who found information, entertainment or inspiration in the blogs.

I practiced 27 days in January! What a wonderful and illuminating experience. There were definitely some days when the only reason my mat was rolled out was because I knew I need to add to my log here. I never regretted it when the mat was rolled back up. Even in times of sickness, fatigue and di

01.30 = Not so Enlightened

01.30 = Yoga Zone dvd, 20 mins power yoga

Quick evening practice tonight. I talked my husband into joining in. And then nagged him about his form - which I have really conciously avoided until now. I admit I was kind of tightly wound from working out an antivirus problem on his computer. Lost password. New email address. Downloaded several times. Rebooted several times. etc. And this computer is in the middle of an extremely messy and chaotic office. I'm not a neat freak but too much c

01.29 = shoulders back

01.29 = 75 mins Anusara class

Before Tuesday night class, the teacher half-jokingly asks "So, any new injuries I should know about?" I don't answer aloud but that little voice in my head is wrying commenting "Not unless you count sloth," I missed 2 days...in a row! Sunday and Monday. Ah well, back in the saddle on the mat now.

The theme for this evening's class is heart opening and learning about shoulder loops. "Shoulder loops" is an Anusara te

01.26 = Social Yoga

01.26 = 30 mins sun salutations

Step your right foot back. Giggle. Raise your arms up into temple hands. Giggle. Raise your back leg up off the floor. Ha-Ha! Breathing in I feel calm. Breathing out I smile. Snicker. Giggle. Laugh. Savasana. Quiet. Phone rings. Hysterics.

Our neighbor and her daughter and friends joined me for yoga tonight. They really liked it and they really giggled alot. I might have to look into "Laughter Yoga"
