Inspired by a fab post by Yogamum. A group for all those yogini's who aren't skinny minnie's(not that the yogini's that ARE slim are nasty or anything, I'm sure you're lovely non-judgemental superstars, it's just kinda hard sometimes being round!)

I am so glad to have found a group like this!! I have just started practicing yoga and I am so not the body type you would normally see. I am somewhere between a US 12 and 14. However, I do feel my body changing through my practice. It has been awesome! Congrats on your achievement, Jennifer!!

I began yoga weighing 222 pounds (or a little more, I sort of stopped weighing)...i was a size (US) 22/24...... The practice was quite difficult at first as I was so out of shape. But eventually, I began gaining flexibility and strength. I have lost weight with yoga and a raw vegan diet. I now weigh 165.2 pounds. I fit into a size 14 that is a bit baggy or a size 12 that is a bit snug. I found this group by following Yogamum's groups. I found her group through a post on sparkpeople.com from one of the yoga forums there.

I'm in recovery from Cushing's Disease (a.k.a. Obesity Tumor).
It's been a real struggle and yoga is the key to my recovery.

I'm really happy to find a group like this. I'm a UK size 20 (US 16/18), and I find people often look at me funny when they hear I do a lot of active things like yoga, dancing, hiking etc, or when they see me doing well at any of them. It's kind of amusing, and I'm glad to undermine their stereotypes, but it also gets tiresome after a while.

Oh, I so belong in this group!! Thanks for starting it, Princess Maude. I have no problem with being a round Yogini, even as a teacher. I did have a teacher tell me once that I was very flexible for a big girl. Grr. I laughed it off and pointed out I'd be flexible enough to kick his a## so he better watch what he says. I think it helps some of my larger students feel more comfortable.
