Practice and all is coming -- Sri K. Pattabhi Jois

We need a discussion over here on the forum! So I'm starting one: What is your plan for practice in January? Or are you going to wing it? How are you defining your "practice"?

Kit, I love the name of your yoga, "Really Happy Yoga" (I thought the caps were appropriate!")

I'm going to mix it up a bit. Home practice in the evening...before dinner. Regular practice at a studio 2-3 times a week.

I am very much a beginner, so I plan to stick with the "cookbook" approach I have been using up to now. My practice is mostly at home, where I have been following the beginner routines in Yoga for Dummies each morning for about 30 minutes. Once a week, I'll attend the "Power Yoga" class offered at my local gym. The yoga there is good, but the class is not really a beginner class and has felt a little advanced for me. But no one seems to mind if I take a little rest when I need it, so no harm done.

My hopes / goals for the month:
Become more comfortable with downward dog.
Be more mindful of my breathing during my practice.
Move more flexibly / gracefully between postures.
Make it all the way through class.

Mostly, I plan to enjoy the mental and physical benefits yoga is bringing me.

i plan on practicing my normal ashtanga practice Sunday thru Friday... and then on Saturday I'll take it easy... either go to a class at one of the yoga studios or self practice yin style or something.

My plan is to just make sure I fit in as much as I can each day, around my toddler. I hope to do some more intense practice at, say, naptime (which is presently a bit unpredictable), but also to try and do some with him, so he can begin to learn.

My plan is to:

1.go to class when possible (rarely even twice a week)
2. practice with one of my DVD's at home when I have the time/inclination for a longer practice but can't go to class, and
3. when #2 isn't possible, be sure to start my day with some sun salutations (which is what I did at 6am today!)

My hope is that after a month of this it will become a habit and I'll be able to make frequent practice (even if less than daily) part of my life. But, one day at a time.

Seems like a very doable goal. Like you, I really just want a home practice. Shouldn't it be possible to turn thought, rightful intention, into action?
