We need a discussion over here on the forum! So I'm starting one: What is your plan for practice in January? Or are you going to wing it? How are you defining your "practice"?

i try to do the prescribed Ashtanga method of 6 days, no saturday, no moon day, no ladies hols. so i will stick to that. but one of my practice issues is that i feel like if i don't have a whole two hour block of time i can't practice. i think this will be a good excersize for me in terms of accepting a different practice or a smaller practice. so i guess i have a plan to sometimes wing it?
The plan, well I just think I am going to try and do some practice every day. On the days when I would usually not do any practice, because I think I dont think I have time to do it justice, I will do some Surya's or maybe just the postures I like. After the Christmas thing, its a good way of refocussing on practice, though I obviously hope to do some practice while I am away. I land back in London on New Years eve after a long flight from the far east, so New years day morning will be a great opportunity to set the tone not just for the WoYoPracMo, but for the coming year.

I think I'm going to have to wing it. I know I can do sun salutations daily to keep me from getting stiff and a couple different poses. The challenge will probably be the weekends when everyone is home.
I practice Yoga pretty much every day now! As Emily mentioned, it's harder on the weekends, but with kids and a husband and other stuff in life, I commit to 20 minutes a day now. Any more is gravy!!! I am toying with committing to a minimum of 30 minutes for January... I also think Globie's statement that starting the New Year off with a Yoga session is a good way to start the New Year. Kind of like setting an intention at the beginning of class, yes?
Also, Tova. I love cake. You are a woman after my own heart.
As well as WoYoPracMo setting the tone for the yoga year, it should also be a good opportuntiy to try and rid myself of bad habits. Eg I have just done my practice, but as people have added comments to this discussion my e-mail has pinged into life next to me, I really must learn to turn this thing off when I do practice, the temptation to read the discussion is hard to resist!

I don't have a definite plan yet, but I'd like to do at least 15 minutes of yoga-y stuff each day. Right now, I try to do yoga every day (as in asanas), but lately I have been missing days. In January (or even sooner :) I'd like to get back on track AND add some other stuff. Maybe some meditation or even chanting, which I am starting to secretly love.
I'm going with the "do what I can" style. I've had days when I just stood in Samastithih with my breath and that was pretty much it. It's very easy to shine something like that on but I have gotten a bit lax in my quest for daily practice. I have been telling myself that householder yoga is a very high form of yoga and I have been doing that for over 13 years. But I plan to define "practice" as something done with a specific intention toward the goal of, well, practice.
I've decided to carry a few of the exercises from my yoga class back into my home: as comforters. A friend sent me some wonderful dvds,, and so I thought I might, on weekends try to let those sessions inspire me. My plan is to start this weekend and continue into January to translate my intent into some sort of action.
I'm showing at the yoga studio near my work place regularly. It's easier to practice in a room full of people. I guess what I hope for January is to develop a more regular home practice, especially on days when it's raining and I really don't want to leave home. Or mornings when it feels better to sleep in.
To be honest, I haven't really planned much for January. Maybe I should.
My plan is meager at best! ;-) Between homeschooling two kids, a new babe, my own family biz, a biz selling my yarn and roving goodies, trying to live naturally and holistically.... Well.
My goal is at least 10 minutes a day or something. More is gravy. If all I do is some sun salutations and breathing then hey, at least I slowed down and did something. I also will go to the once a week class at a local studio I can do for free.
